Residential Excellence: A Home Away from Home

Student Housing and Residential Life

🏞️Campus Environment and Natural Landscape

Natural Landscape and Campus Surroundings
Located on the southwestern hillside of the Sanzhi District in New Taipei City, the Mackay Medical University campus features a unique topography of valleys and ridgelines that offer expansive views. The residential halls overlook the estuary of the Balian River and the Taiwan Strait, with vistas stretching eastward toward the Datun Mountain Range. A network of scenic trails integrated with valley landscapes and conservation zones provides students and faculty with spaces for wellness walks and leisure. The campus seamlessly integrates hillside ecology, academic culture, spiritual serenity, and natural scenery, fostering an optimal environment for learning and residential life.

🏛️ Architectural Design Philosophy

The campus is designed as an integrated academic community, establishing clear boundaries yet seamless transitions between the domains of residential life, academic learning, recreation, and athletics. Socialization spaces are strategically positioned along daily thoroughfares to enrich interpersonal engagement and community building among faculty and students.

The residential halls are situated adjacent to the academic and research zones to facilitate proximity to classrooms and laboratories. Adhering to the natural topography, the buildings are oriented on a north-south axis to mitigate the impact of cold winter winds and intense summer sun exposure.

🏡 Residential Life and Community Belonging

Cultivating a Sense of Belonging
As the cornerstone of daily student life, the residential halls at Mackay Medical University embody the spirit of the world-class Residential College model. Residential life is designed around co-curricular activities and learning modules, integrating educational and student development programs directly into the living environment to foster a profound sense of community.
